HOW BONKERS CAME TO BE: NICOLA’S STORY
Hi, my name’s Nicola, I’m a serious recreational runner and the founder of Bonkers. My journey in sport started with basketball and five-a-side football, yet it was running that would become my true passion, the thing that helps me discover new limits and explore new possibilities.
This story all began with a problem that every runner has experienced: blisters. Every race I entered was an unforgettable experience, but not always for the right reasons. After just a few miles in the wrong socks, my feet would start chafing and hurting
It was extremely frustrating, so I decided to look for a solution. I wanted socks that were:
- Technical, to protect my feet;
- Comfortable, so I could push myself further;
- Unique, because style shouldn’t be limited to shoes.
My Eureka moment came during a race on Venice Lido. I was wearing one of the first prototypes of my Bonkers socks when the speaker stopped me and announced over the microphone: “Hey these look different!” That was when I knew I was on the right path
From that day on, I worked for over a year on designing and testing each model. My goal? To make socks that combine total comfort, advanced performance and a distinctive design.
THE STORY BEHIND THE LOGO
Why Bonkers?
We had a clear goal from the beginning: that of creating a brand that screams strength, energy, dynamicity… and a little bit of healthy madness! With this in mind the name Bonkers, which literally means “out of your mind”, was born. But that wasn’t all. We carefully studied how to represent the essence and the identity of Bonkers in a unique pictogram. That is our signature, our whole identity!
The meaning behind the pictogram
Our pictogram is a true concentrate of energy. The colour yellow was purposefully chosen to represent the idea of vitality and movement. If you look closely you will notice that the shape of the pictogram resembles both the letter B of “Bonkers” and a lightning bolt, which symbolises speed and dynamism. Imagine the leg in motion, dressed in a sock at the end, just like a runner preparing to race. his logo isn’t just a symbol but it embodies our values: originality and commitment to creating out of the ordinary products.
